3 Ways to Have Hot Raw Vegan Meals
Hot raw food, although it might sound like an oxymoron there are in fact a few ways to prepare a raw meal such that it is hot, or at least warm. Hot food can still be considered raw due to the fact that the enzymes in food don’t break down until food is heated beyond 115F. So if you are getting tired of raw smoothies and salads here is a great way to put some variety in your diet.
Method #1 Raw Food Dehydrator
A dehydrator is a device that works by using heat to pull the moisture out of food. It allows you to set the temperature so as long as you keep the temperature below 115F you will be able to produce tasty warm food. You can use raw dehydrators to make warm cracker or warm cookies. There are many food dehydrator recipes out there, just google “raw dehydrator recipes”.
Method #2 Use Warm Water to Heat Raw Food
Warm water is another method that is used to produce warm raw meals. Simply combine warm water with veggies to make raw soups. Just make sure that the water is under 115F, this especially great during the winter or a on a cold day.
Method #3 The finger rule
The lowest heat setting on your stove is another method that can be used to make a raw meal. If you can stick a finger in the food while cooking it is not too hot to disqualify it from being raw. Some people also use thermometers. This method is an excellent way to prepare chili.
The dehydrator, hot water and the stove are several great ways to expand you raw preparation repertoire. Enjoy using these methods to explore great new tastes.
